Portland Head Lighthouse Webcam
If you are unable to make it to the lighthouse in person, you can visit the lighthouse’s website and watch the live webcam with a view of Casco Bay. Check out the live webcam at night and see the light warning fisherman of the dangerous shores.
The lighthouse is currently maintained by the United States Coast Guard allowing for the automation of the light. You can also enjoy the surrounding jagged shoreline of Fort Williams Park.
Fort Williams Park
Fort Williams Park includes ninety acres of surrounding land offering scenic ocean views, hiking trails, picnic facilities, sports and recreation areas, along with historic fort structures and is open from sunup to sundown.
If you have the time, enjoy the museum located within the former Keepers’ Quarters, where you will learn about how in 1776, the Town of Cape Elizabeth posted eight soldiers at Portland Head to warn its citizens of incoming British attacks.
Portland Head Light is a great place to spend a Saturday afternoon exploring the lighthouse and stunningly beautiful shoreline of Fort Williams Park so don’t forget to visit this classic Portland site when you are trying to plan your next visit to New England.
